It’s been a little while since I last posted. Apologies, gentle Jruns readers. You’re entitled to expect better from your humble correspondent. In future I will try harder.
So what’s been happening? Well, for one thing, it was the weekend; a time when, amongst other things, I am blessedly free of all things web-related. I have [...]

So, picture this.
I was running along the Dandenong Creek trail just west of Dorset Road this morning and, owing to the fact it was in the wee-small hours, visibility was a mite low. If you wanted to use the words “pitch black” that’s all right with me.
So, anyway, it’s dark, and ahead in the distance [...]

On Friday’s post, you may have noticed I attempted to dazzle you with my html coding whiz-bangery. However, the Blogger interface, if you can call it that, doesn’t seem to lend itself to anchor links. It doesn’t lend itself to much really, which is possibly why a few running people seem to have defected recently.
Anyway, [...]

I made it back from Sydney unscathed last night. I managed to negotiate the long-term car park dragging the family’s entire worldly possessions single-handedly, did an impromptu tour of north-west Melbourne’s less salubrious suburbs and ended up back at home, breathing a large sigh of relief.
Sydney’s pretty spectacular looking really - especially the bit I [...]

I know it’s not necessarily the best way to measure your training, but I do tend to focus a lot on the number of kilometres I’m running per week. For the last few months this figure has been somewhere between 45 and 60.
Last week I somehow managed to reach 80. I’m not sure how.
Well that’s [...]

It was a decidedly ordinary weekend, this one just passed. Everyone in Melbourne suddenly had the experience of being a pack-and-a-half-a-day smoker, whether they liked it or not.
Now I used to be a pretty heavy smoker, and even back then I don’t recall being quite as short of breath. Then again, I probably didn’t ever [...]

The new wheels arrived last night, wrapped in about 25 square metres of plastic of various sorts and three rolls of packing tape. Still, I’m grateful for those extra few seconds of delicious anticipation while I tried to tear it open with my hands, my fingernails, teeth, a pair of scissors and a small thermo-nuclear [...]

Today: 16.4219k, for the week 39km
I leapt from my bed this morning at 5:00. Really, it’s true - I DID leap from my bed, arms outstretched like some budding Nijinsky, and promptly knocked over a vase, 2 bedside lamps, one small child and almost woke the other half. Graceful as always.
Pushing on, regardless, I [...]
