If you happened to have been in the vicinity of the Mulgrave office of Australian Air Express, sometime around 6:30 last night, you would have seen a well-dressed, handsome, athletic-looking young man standing at the counter.
If you looked a little to the left, you would have seen me.
I was there having the following, rather rewarding, [...]

JoJo took me task somewhat yesterday over my tendency to do the Japanese-style reverse-taper in the week before a marathon. In my defence, the yasso session was really not too hard. Really.
Anyway, I’ve been feeling suitably chastened since JoJo’s comment. In fact, from now on I resolve to devote all my energies and attention to [...]

Last Tuesday I went out an a limb, promising a session of the dreaded Yasso 800’s. Having gone so far as allowing my mouth to write the cheque, yesterday it was time for my legs to cash it.
You know what: after all that, the Yassos aren’t that bad. I can run 800 metres in 3 [...]

I’m not sure I was really on the ball today. Well thought-through logic was conspicuous by its absence.

Two whole days have passed since your last installment of JRuns. Two days in which your world has probably grown a little darker, more lonely and without hope. Never mind, I’m back.
Where have I been? Nowhere in particular, you know: around.
Actually I’ve been at work, earning the daily stipend; tapping away at the old PC [...]

Imagine, if you will, you were a fly on the wall of the Jruns marital bedroom around 9 o’clock last night (don’t worry, this isn’t going anywhere x-rated). Mrs JH was in bed and I was emerging from the ensuite pulling on my flashy new pair of Skins; quite a difficult thing to do standing [...]

One of the things that holds many people back from potential running careers is the fear of complete strangers splitting their sides laughing and hurling witty abuse from the other side of the street.
It does happen.
Back in the heady days of 2004, when I started running, a harmless “run Forrest run” would be enough to [...]
